In 1912, Surgeon General Sir H. W. Stevenson, College of Physicians & Surgeons (CPS) of Mumbai was established as an examining body for the doctors who wish to qualify in PG medical education prior to their service period. It is one of the oldest PG Medical Education Institutions in India to be recognized for offering valid degrees according to the Indian Medical Degree Act 1916. CPS is an autonomous body based on the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
CPS key aim is to promote specialty medical practices in rural areas. CPS conducts training sessions and trains the doctors irrespective of their specializations.

CPS has inspected, approved and affiliated more than 125 accredited medical institutions including government medical colleges, Corporation medical Institution, deemed medical universities approved by UGC and private Medical College in Maharashtra for training the post graduate specialist.
Under similar grounds, CPS has affiliated more than 20 institutions in Gujarat for conducting the PG training program.

CPS Eligibility
Students willing to join a postgraduate degree from CPS must hold a basic qualification of MBBS or equivalent degree approved by the MCI for the resolution of First Schedule Second Schedule or Third Schedule of IMC Act 1956 as revised from time to time.
Students who have passed the MBBS examination recognized by MCI or any equivalent degree from any recognized university must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from CPS at the time of applying for the enrollment in post-graduate courses (certificate course/ Diploma/ Fellowship) in CPS affiliated institutions. Exemption for this eligibility certificate is provided for the students who have cleared MCPS examination of CPS earlier to December 2022. The aspirant must have a permanent registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council or the State Medical Council where the CPS courses are approved before enrollment.

Enrollment into CPS is an online process, which is clearly defined on the college website www.apexedu.in
The students can login using the user id and password and read through the brochure for getting a clear idea.
The student can select the required state of their choice and fill up the necessary details in the application
The required documents are to be scanned and uploaded. Check for the details and scanned documents prior to submission because once submitted the details cannot be changed.
